Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher for a fourth consecutive session on Wednesday as softer crude oil prices following the US-Iran peace deal boosted investor sentiment despite continued foreign fund outflows.The BSE Sensex rose 347.14 points, or 0.45%, to close at 77,155.62. During the session, it climbed as much as 410.51 points, or 0.53%, to 77,218.99.The NSE Nifty gained 96.55 points, or 0.40%, to settle at 24,085.70. The index touched an intraday high of 24,108.20, up 119.05 points, or 0.49%.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, traded at around USD 79.10 a barrel.“Continued weakness in crude oil prices, driven by easing geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, has kept investor sentiment buoyant,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.Among Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei 225 and China’s Shanghai Composite ended higher, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng settled in the red.European markets were trading mixed, while US markets had ended mostly lower on Tuesday.Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 749.18 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.On Tuesday, the Sensex had rallied 544.15 points, or 0.71%, to close at 76,808.48, while the Nifty advanced 135.25 points, or 0.57%, to settle at 23,989.15, extending the market’s recent upward momentum.
